The start of the New Year has brought many visitors to Cambodia and to Jesuit Service.
Last week, we warmly welcomed Father Doan SJ, a Vietnamese priest who is Assistant to the Jesuit Father General in Rome. Father Doan will visit all the major Jesuit works in Cambodia. He returns to his homeland, Vietnam, for the New Year celebrations on January 22and will return to Rome at the end of the month.
We also had a visit from well known Australian Jesuit and lawyer, Father Frank Brennan SJ. Father Frank last visited Cambodia in 1995, so he is a familiar face to many of our staff here. Father Frank spent a week with Father Kike and the rest of the Battambang community, as well as spending time in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. He was interested and happy to see the growth and development of our work here after 8 years.

The
Providence Sisters are our partners in many of our projects here in Cambodia.
This month saw the arrival of their Mother General, Sister Jacqueline. On Sunday
evening, we were invited to a celebration dinner and performance at their house.
The high-school students from their school danced and sang for us. We were all
treated to a scrumptious meal afterwards. A great night was had by all.
