Possible new arrivals
There continue to be reports of at least five Montagnard asylum seekers in Ratanakiri province. On the 27th May, Hong Ang, deputy police chief of Ratanakiri was quoted in the press saying that there were unconfirmed reports of 50 or 60 Montagnards currently in Mondulkiri province.
On
the 26th May, a Cambodian human rights organisation, Ad Hoc, reported that police
had conducted a 10 day search for the five Montagnards in Ratanakiri. UNHCR has
requested the Cambodian Government access to these areas and although the authorities
have been slow to respond it is expected that a joint mission to Ratanakiri will
take place soon.
