On visit to Indonesia Re Mine Ban Treaty
- Brig General Sutanto ( and Bambang) 000000000000000000000000 Indonesian Army:00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 On May 27, 2003, in the meeting with Mr Ross Hynes in the Embassy of Canada to Indonesia. Brig General Sutanto stated that Indonesian army had 16,000 apm mines, stored in the forest in East Java.
Indonesia has never used mines for weapon. They are used for training purpose. ( He wanted to know how he could get new mines for training purpose!!)
The mines they have are old type (made in the Sixties and from Russia). He understands that ratification means destruction of the stockpile.

These were the highlights of the visits with Key people. The two days were packed with other meetings, Foreign Ministry, Human Rights Commissions etc.
